Many countries were added and new country directors came on board, developing strong in-country staff as MGM expansion continued.

The Santana Center developed in general medicine, surgery and dentistry and the ophthalmology department drew the very best young doctors to its residency programs. Fellowships were offered. Health Education became known in Spanish as Salud Integral, training health educators for service in several countries.

LaMar Stauffer retired from MGM, and his assistant, Daniel Castro became MGM Director for Honduras. A new hospital was under construction in El Progreso, Honduras.

Whether projects were held in the heat of a desert or the bracing air of high altitudes, the basic structure for MGM clinics remained the same. The MGM name was changed to MGM International, with board members from CMDS/USA and CMDS/EMAS/Canada.
